I am visiting Maine this week, and I stopped by to see the graves of Harriet Blaine Beale, Trux’s first wife, her sister Margaret and her husband, Walter Damrosch. They are buried at Ledgelawn Cemetery, maybe about a half mile away from the downtown area. The graves are the first ones you will see once you enter and look to your left.

I also made this video while way overstimulated on coffee. I hope you find it amusing. I sometimes like to be a bit edgy in my attempts at humor, so no offense.
Yeah, I know it would be better if I held the camera the other way, but every time I do that, it just posts the videos sideways. I actually made another video the day before, and that happened. I used to be pretty good with technology, but as I get older, I suck more and more at it. So, just deal with it.
Also, note the other grave I mentioned in the video was one of the daughters of Margaret and Walter, not his sister as I speculated. I’m not much up on Damrosch family history like I should be.
Walter’s autobiography, My Musical Life, can be read by clicking here.
His daughter Gretchen’s book, From the top of the stairs, is also available on the Internet Archive.
